In neighboring states, Richmond, VA and Baltimore, MD come in 5th and 6th respectively. Out of cities with populations of 500,000 or more, Baltimore and DC rank 2nd and 3rd behind Detroit. Richmond comes in 3rd for cities with populations between 100,000 and 499,000. The city took the top spot last year from Detroit, which remained No. 2 in the most dangerous city rankings, to be released Monday by Morgan Quitno Press. The Lawrence, Kan.-based company publishes "City Crime Rankings," an annual reference book.
